Corescan research on display at Roundup '17

7 Feb 2017

Congratulations to UBC-MDRU student Kathryn MacWilliam's 2nd place poster at Roundup this year! Kathryn's work on Goldcorp's Coffee deposit in the Yukon was a highlight of the poster session. Along with her co-authors from UBC, Goldcorp and Corescan, Kathryn reported on the subtle but important hydrothermal alteration associated with this structurally-controlled, near-surface gold deposit located in the Dawson Range. The intricate and complex textural associations of white mica, kaolinite and carbonate revealed by Corescan hyperspectral imaging (and their measured compositions and crystallinities) reveal significant information on the character (pH and temperature) and timing of ore-forming fluids. Corescan is proud to support innovative, applied research in the mining industry and we’ll continue to highlight exciting new results and research programs monthly into the future.
